trail514 was groomed again Sunday evening.

Sunday Feb  05/12   -19*
      Club meeting Monday at 7PM
Lots of sleds out yesterday, both shelters
busy.The BR 180 did 52 North last night,the
trail was getting rather rough from the shelter
to Taylor brook road.Enjoy again today. Cheers

Saturday  Feb 04/12   -18*
Final day of Pond Hockey Tournament and Fireworks

   510    511
Trail 52 to Taylor brook road and to Downtown
Trail 42 to the river crossing
   514  515  517  520  522   523  529

Friday   Feb   03/12   -18*
Hey,Willie saw his shadow, more winter to come
On the South side trail 52 to Barnaby river groomed,
as was  510    511  Trail 21 to be done today
Trail 52 North to Taylor brook and 52 to downtown
Trail 42 to the river.Trails 515   521  522   and 523 all
groomed
                    Enjoy

Thursday  Feb  02/12   -12*
Groundhog Day,what does Willie have for us
The City dumped snow for the ditches at the lights
on the South side, the Lamtrac has been on the go
yesterday and plan to do 52 to Barnaby river today,
then to Black river on trail 21.Got about 10CM snow
yesterday with drifting.

Wednesday   Feb  01/12    -12*  8AM
Yesterday Trail 517 groomed and 52 North
to the Taylor brook road and junction of 48
After yesterday I feel we only need a trail
groomed about 6 ft wide because most of the
traffic runs the middle no matter how wide the
trail is.I would think those keeping to their side
of the trail are the more experienced riders. If you
keep to your side the trails will stay better for a
longer time and they are so much easier to groom,
it sometimes difficult to fill in that middle trench.
with 15 CM of snow forecast,no grooming today

Tuesday  Jan 31/12   -18*
Finally got through trail 514,it is by far the
most difficult trail we have to maintain and I think
it is jinxed.Temporairly used old trail over Millstream
to get through.Trail 52 groomed to downtown and 52
to junction of 515,515 to junction of 521 and 521.
doing 517 and 52 North today.New reflectors across
barrens show up some bright.

Monday  Jan  30/12    -8*
On trail 514 the operators got to the Maple Glen
road at 9 PM.Still a section to open towards Bellefond,
back again tomorrow.Sleds are crossing on the ice at
both Trail 52 and Trail 48 crossings. We have a new style
sign for where our trails meet plowed logging roads, they
were installed on Trail 48 yesterday.

Sunday  Jan  29/12   8AM    -8*
Both the Cat and BR180 were on trail 52
North yesterday, heavy snow to groom. The sleds
were like Don"s sheep at first but they they did
spread out later in the day,a huge amount of
folks out.Both machines are on 514 today,there
is a lot of trees down between Tomognops road
and the Baisley and not safe cutting after dark.
Depending on how much help they get will determine
if they get through today. When they get in one
unit will go back on 52 North and the other work
locally.

Saturday   Jan  28/12   -4*  8 AM
Looks like 20+ CM of nice packy snow, with
drifting. The storm appears to be over. Both the
Sno Cat and BR 180 are ready to go,probably this
afternoon.Had both GPS units checked by Sentinel,
all is supposed to be OK,neither one was working
properly. Will check with the Lamtrac to see what is
happening there. We depend on the City to dump
snow in the ditches at the lights before the groomer
can go.

Friday  Jan  27/12    8:45  AM
Held off doing this report hoping I could say
it was SNOWING but none yet spect some, hopefully
a lot.
Our sign stands are all dolled up with photos
off to the federation by this noon deadline, again
Thanks Dave.
Speaking to the contractor and Trail 48 from
the junction of 52 will be Plowed for another month,
approx 6.5 KM.There is a .5 KM section of 52 near
the Bellefond road plowed, but only for a short while.
Trail 514 will now start off 52 at the Bellefond road.
Hope to make 517 a loop back the dump road and
out the Cow Brook trail, joining to 514.
Both shelters have Garbage Cans, please use
them.

Thursday   Jan  26/12    -13*
Super forecast,if we get the 20-30 CM forecast
for tomorrow, the majority of our trails will be able
to open,as it stands now the only trail that is really
groomed is 52 North from the Beaverbrook road.
Regarding speed on the trails, the re-route of 52
has some very winding sections and the NEW sign
program is not designed to accomodate high speed
traffic, just a warning, there are some large trees near
some of those turns.

Wednesday  Jan 25/12    -3*
Was out with Dave using the BR 180 making
changes to the sign pedestals, the federation wants
them finished by noon Friday, our club has seven.
We had hoped to be able to groom downtown this
week but this weather put the dampers on that,it
is a mess in that direction.Should still be OK going
North. There has been no grooming yet on the South
side.Friday looks like some snow coming, with the
base we have it won't take a lot

Tuesday  Jan  24/12   +3*
The Napan bridge is finished with upgrades
Jeff and Co spent the better part of two days,a very
small crew showed up to help(what else is new)Thanks
to those who did and a special Thanks to Jeff,Gary,
Danny and Skylar.A special Thanks also to Colin Manuel
and Pattersons for use of tractor
The GPS unit on the Sno Cat is not showing
where it groomed ie. trail 52 done yesterday and 517
done Friday

Monday  Jan  23/12   -13*
Got Trail 52 North groomed yesterday to Taylor
Brook road and junction of 48.-30* when groomer left
North Shore. The new Sno Cat works some nice quite a
difference from the old one,the on board cameras are
great.Have to travel side of Beaverbrook road, not enough
snow on side to groom. The trail shaped up really good.

Sunday  Jan  22/12     -19*
The BR 180 has a new starter and is ready
to go.Was up to the ride in(by truck) at O'Donnels
good crowd, met some old friends.Antique sleds
on display,BarBque,Anniversary cake(yum)half &
half draw,Bon Fire and sing along.A really nice
event. Will try with the drag today to the Taylor
Brook Rd.Nepisiquit will be doing from there to the
headpond.

Saturday   Jan  21/12
Jeff and Co. are still working at the Napan bridge
and really need some Help Today
A 30th anniversary event is a ride in at O'Donnels
cottages in Doaktown, lots of fun events planned, easily
acessible by vehicle.
Had our trail audit yesterday, some really good feed-
back and suggestions. We have some changes to make
but overall we are in good shape for signage.
B&B got through to Sunnycorner yesterday, above
Eel Ground there is more snow but up to there not enough
to groom. They filled in holes and crossed all beaver dams.
The BR 180 is in the shop with a bum starter
Trail 52 North quite passable, was out today as far as
shelter, started from Community Collage.Traffic also coming
through on 48

Friday  Jan 20/12  8 AM
Just got an e-mail from Jeff, they are going to
upgrade th Napan bridge today, could use lots of HELP

Friday  Jan 20/12   -13*
B&B are going to take the Sno Cat and give
trail 517 a try. Will be having a visit from Federation
reps today, they will be doing a trail check re signage
if it is up to standards, members of our club will go
with them.It is great to have this done, this is the
year when all clubs in the province are to have
completed the changeover to the new signage program
putting us on a standard with other provinces such as
Quebec and Ontario

Wednesday  Jan  18/12   +2*    12 Noon
Had about 5-7 CM snow with a light rain earlier
Cleared up now, nice packy snow.A follow up to this AM
report, the section from spur that was opened yesterday
has some alders hanging down, hopefully someone will
clear these when passing through, there is not a lot. Will
wait to see what comes on Friday before attempting to
groom, another 10 CM should put us downtown.Along the
Beaverbrook road needs a lot more snow, right now it is
very rough.

Wednesday  Jan  18/12   1*
Finished the last section of trail 52 North,a lot
of trees down,5 hours cutting and pushing with BR
Trail is now open,it was done with the compactor
there will be some rougher areas, but overall it is
fairly decent. From the Green Brook road toward the
city there is a lot less snow. There has been no
grooming done downtown or on the South side, not
enough snow.

Monday  Jan  16   10  PM
Got through to the headpond today and crossed
to the club.Did a lot of cutting from Tomognops road
to the headpond, good ice on Gordon Meadow brook
plus built a snow bridge across it.Was dark when we
got back to the Tomognops road. The section from the
spur line going North still has to be cleared, not sure
how bad it is,going back tomorrow,Dave and Ron are
leaving at 9 AM,will be starting from where trail 52
crosses the Tomognops road.If anyone can lend a hand
give us a call or meet us there,we have the BR 180 for
pushing.Once this section is cleared Trail 52 North will
be open and ready for the drag.

Monday  Jan  15/12    9:15AM
The  GPS  is now showing yesterdays trip,
blue  12-24 hours.Forgot to mention the gourmet
buffet lunch on Saturday prepared by a Chef from
Grand Falls.Delicious

Monday  Jan 15/12   -20*
The best of plans go astray, left early yesterday AM
planning to get to the headpond, using the BR 180 with
the compactor on.Trail from the spur line to Tomognops
road has oodles of jack pine and spruce across the trail
Will return today to clear trail. It made a fairly decent job
as far as groomer went with more snow further back about
30 CM in places. It looks like the new trail will add about
3 hours to this run.On the bright side a busy crew out on
Saturday saw the new shelter and deluxe two hole privy
moved just North of the barren on trail 52,hope to get stove
going today.Whoever cleared the down trees toward the spur
line Thahk You.If all goes well today trail 52 North should
be opened and passable with caution.GPS tracking is not
showing where the groomer travelled yesterday

Saturday  Jan 14/12   -2*
Very windy and getting cooler.Today is moving the
shelter episode. The BR 180 was across the barrens again
yesterday trying to smooth out the wheel ruts.We are
looking at trying to do 52 North tomorrow, the snow should
be dried by then,it just balls up now.Still not showing
groomer out on the federation trail status.

Friday  Jan  13/12   -2*
About 8-10 CM snow and light drizzle at 8AM
not as much snow as expected but every bit helps
had the BR 180 across the barrens yesterday on
trails 52 and 515 as far as the community college
(without the drag)very rough along the beaverbrook
road, there are no water holes and rough in spots
on the remainder of where we went. The federation
Trail Status is not showing a groomer was out.

Thursday  Jan  12/12   -19*
A small but very efficient crew yesterday(Dave
Skylar  Ron)Under the watchful eye of our director
of signage,trail52 from the Green Brook road to the
shelter (32KM) was signed to the latest standards.
That beaver dam near the shelter was drained again.
On Tuesday a great crew led by Paul Buckley and
Mark put the finishing touches to the new shelter
the next mission will be the moving. We have a very
delightful weather forecast for later today into Friday,
again hoping this storm will dump enough for the start
of grooming.By the way the crew working on the shelter
specializes in shortening the legs on stepladders!!

Tuesday  Jan  10/12   -11*
Great turnout at last nights meeting, some new
people with new ideas, which is great.Another work
day is planned for tomorrow to sign Trail 52 North
(re-route) meting at North Shore Construction at 9 AM.
Plans for the White Gold Dance are pretty well finalized
Still need volunteers.Stephen Geikie is co-ordinating
this Major social event and fundraiser. There is still snow
forecast for Thursday-Saturday,hopefully there will be
enough to start grooming. The barrens are well frozen
so should not be a problem this year,There is still some
wet areas showing on the River ice near the bridges and
the cove.

Sunday  Jan  08/12   -8*
5-7 CM of snow yesterday and last evening,it is
looking better for Thursday & Friday.Checked some areas
Friday, the spruce bogs are not frozen very well, looks like
pallets again.Where the trail is on a good road it could be
groomed some what but we don't have a lot of it.Don't
forget the meeting tomorrow evening.Had some querries
on D.P. renovations contract, their competive pricing is hard
to beat plus the quality of their work.      Cheers

Friday  Jan 06/12    -17*
D.P. Renovations spent yesterday at the shelter, this
reputable firm has the contract again this season for
maintenance and renovations.New stove pipe was installed
plus roof supports.Trail 52 will now come out at the shelter
so a sign standard was placed with all the proper signage.
There is approx 10 CM of snow with an icy crust in this
area.A lot of ice laden jack pine were hanging over the trail,
these were removed.
